Looking back, she reminisces about her love for swimming during her school years. She even liked PE, thanks to a supportive teacher who encouraged her, even during challenging times. Kelly’s currently taking a break to explore various career options, including hybrid models, self-employment, and other possibilities. She has gained experience in her past roles as a fitness coach at Energy Fitness in Bethnal Green and a residential gym in Kensington. 

 

Reflecting on her experience, Kelly notes the shift from commercial gyms to a more localised residential setting, where she interacted with residents from diverse backgrounds. Learning from different characters and life paths was good to experience and certainly sparked different ways of thinking. 

 

The Catalyst: Focus Fitness UK

Introduced to the world of personal training through a friend of a friend, Kelly took the initiative to explore the possibilities with Focus Fitness UK. She contacted the staff, which led her to the qualifications needed for a career doing what she loves.

 

She underwent training, completing a Level 2 and Level 3 Personal Training course and discusses the welcoming atmosphere surrounding the training providers. “Everyone pursues their unique missions with open support and encouragement” she said, with a particular admiration of the energetic teaching style of Matt Brown and commended the facility for being helpful and friendly.

Working On Social Influence

As we move onto the topic of online coaching and content creation. Kelly shares that she began uploading videos on her Instagram page (@kvjfitness) around Christmas last year, leading to substantial growth. Her goal is to become a micro-influencer, aiming for at least 10,000 followers. She also outlines her foray into collaborations with other brands, as her intention to grow her online presence on platforms like TikTok. 

 

The opportunities that have unfolded for her through social media, securing collaborations with agencies, and sponsored gifting endeavours with various brands is what she has been currently working towards.

 

She’s looking forward to an opportunity to collaborate with a Canadian brand in affiliate marketing and explains the more actively she promotes the brand and encourages her audience to use the provided code, the higher the commissions earned. Consistent and persistent promotion is key to maximising earnings in an affiliate partnership.

 

With a deep passion for creating fitness-related content and she will be using her skills to build a substantial following, with aims to securing more prominent partnerships in the future. She remains patient and consistent in her daily content uploads, and unwavering as she navigates this route.

 

Views on Competition

Kelly conveys her stance on perfectionism and competition, asserting that her only true competition is with herself, a philosophy she adheres to in her fitness journey. She used to worry about what others thought, but no longer places focus here, neither does she aim for perfection, as she understands this can be paralysing. Modestly attributing her current achievements to her determination, Kelly expresses a commitment to steady growth, intending to dedicate at least another year to furthering her online accomplishments.

We discuss the immediate future and Kelly speaks about getting ready for the January rush, stressing the importance of a well-defined business plan and strategy to secure clients. She explains her services would include personalised nutrition and exercise plans but understands the need to be adaptable to accommodate diverse health conditions. In specific cases, she mentions the possibility of referring clients to specialists if their health concerns go beyond her expertise.
