The end of the year can seem like a daunting time for some, in fear that they have lost yet another year, but it can also be a very rewarding time if used productively. Asking yourself those hard to face questions before the new year can be the perfect time to reflect and learn from your experiences throughout the year. One thing we have a limited amount of is our time, and if we intend to use it wisely, we should spend a part of it structurally reflecting in order to provide invaluable knowledge of the journey we are on.
What has been the best advice?
Sometimes the greatest piece of advice may initially sound irrelevant, unimportant or even unspoken, but it finds its relevance further down the line. A word, a phrase, a metaphor, whatever it was, it plays a huge significance to your life experiences, the question is what was it? What advice impacted you the most this year?
What was my greatest achievement?
Life is full of accomplishments and although we tend to dwell on our failures and overlook our successes, now would be a perfect time to assess the most impactual achievement of 2017. What have you achieved this year that outshines every moment of this year?
Did I achieve my fitness goal? What did I do right/wrong?
Did you? We all have a set goal at the start of the year for our fitness journey, but like most of the world we either fall off of the wagon and pick a new goal (forgetting our initial goal) or we forget entirely what goal we set mainly because it was not physically/mentally challenging enough. If however you did acheve your fitness goal this year, perhaps you could evaluate the things you conducted correctly which helped you to achieve that goal, so that you can use those same tactics to achieve your 2018 fitness goal.
What does success look like to me?
Although this question may seem irrelevent to this time of the year, it actually plays a huge importance to the end of 2017. Each year, your opinion about what success looks like to may change and/or your vision of success may shift in desires, it is thus important to evaluate what success looks like to you, so you can keep your goals inline with your vision of success.
How am I investing in myself?
Invest in yourself as much as you can, you are your own biggest asset by far.
– Warren Buffett
Your knowledge, your time, your relationships are all dependent on how you invest in yourself, the quality of knowledge, time and relationships in your life are dirrectly proportional to how you choose to invest in yourself. Therefore for the quality of how you live, relate and grow is not dependent on whether you are investing enough in yourself, but rather ‘how’ are you investing in yourself?
We hope you find next year both profitible and successful, and with the use of these questions to help evalute the success of the year, you may find the ultimate blueprint to a successful future based on your past. For maximum effect however, employ a mandatory daily routine of these questions and grow daily.
